Darkroom membership
Gaining access to our darkroom is as simple as using our Bookings Portal, but there are a few rules and pre-requisites to remember when doing so:
Book 24 hours in advance.
You must have attended a workshop or induction prior to making bookings.
You must have signed and returned our Access Agreement, sent to you after attending a workshop or induction.
Gaining membership access requires you attend a workshop or induction, read and agree to our membership contract and sign up using one of the links on this page.
After signing up, you'll be sent a link to with instructions on how to activate your mobile access credentials, to access our darkroom during unstaffed hours.
We can accomodate all schedules, please Contact Us if you're unable to attend one of our workshop or induction sessions.
You may also purchase silver gelatin paper for use in our darkroom, available for pick-up at the commencement of your session.
Remember, bookings are not required if you are a Brunswick Darkroom Member because membership includes unlimited use of our facilities.
What's included with booking?
Use of our darkroom priced at an hourly rate with pre-mixed b&w chemicals included for developing and printing film. Scanner bookings do not include darkroom use and vice-versa.
Is access private?
Your access is for you alone and not to be shared with anyone, however, others may be using the darkroom at the same time as you. Our darkroom has 7 enlargers, a 3 metre long sink and a revolving door for lightsafe entry/exit to accomodate multiple individuals working at one time. We also have a 1.5m long light table and focussing loupes to inspect negatives.
How much is a booking?
Bookings start at $50 for 4 hours of darkroom use, or $10/hour for use of our scanners.
What's included with membership?
Our membership includes unlimited use of our black & white darkroom, including chemicals. Simply walk in when you'd like to work, no booking necessary.
What's not included?
Film and paper is not included with membership. The use of our colour darkroom and scanners are also booked separately.
How much is membership?
Brunswick Darkroom meberships start at $33/wk for students and $39/wk for non-students, with discounted pricing for quaterly and 6-monthly subscriptions. This includes unlimited b&w darkroom use, including chemicals.
