What is a darkroom?
Darkrooms are traditional spaces for film development and photographic printmaking. First used in 1839, darkrooms produce one-of-one images on film or paper which can be displayed, or today, digitised.
Is it easy to learn?
Easy to learn but difficult to master, you can become an independant craftsperson after attending one of our workshops. Contine your journey afterwards with a Brunswick Darkroom membership.
What do I need?
Nothing. Come in and say hi, and we can set you up on your photographic journey. But, if you attend one of our workshops, it is a good idea to bring a roll of negatives which you've shot with your film camera.
Film formats?
We're equipped to develop and print 35mm, medium format, and large format 4"x5" negatives. We can darkroom print any size up to 20" x 24".
