E6 Slide Film Development Workshop

Step into the darkroom and learn the foundations of E6 colour slide film processing and high-quality mirrorless camera scanning in a relaxed, supportive environment.

This workshop is suited to anyone with exposed E6 slide film who wants a clear, guided introduction to professional-quality home and lab workflows. The E6 Slide Film Development Workshop is limited to small groups of 3 participants plus one instructor. The workshop runs on alternating Saturdays from 10:00am - 4:00pm and includes film development & film digitisation with a lunch break in between.

Workshop Learning Outcomes

  • Understand how variables such as temperature control, timing precision, and chemical freshness affect E6 slide film processing outcomes and colour accuracy

  • Handle photographic chemicals safely, mix E6 chemistry accurately, and follow best-practice handling, and disposal protocols for colour processing chemicals

  • Identify E6 processing and scanning equipment to apply each component within a development and digitisation workflow.

  • Understand how variables such as temperature control, timing precision, and chemical freshness affect E-6 slide film processing outcomes and colour accuracy

  • Handle photographic chemicals safely, mix E-6 chemistry accurately, and follow best-practice handling, and disposal protocols for colour processing chemicals

  • Interpret histograms, colour channels, and highlight/shadow data to determine optimal capture settings

  • Evaluate finished digital scans for correct exposure, colour balance, dynamic range, and sharpness, and identify adjustments needed to optimise rescanning or post-processing

  • Load and handle slide film correctly in holders and scanning carriers to achieve flatness, alignment, and consistent framing for high-quality mirrorless scanning results.
